Past

Long ago the light, who would later become known as the goddess Aine, erupted from nothing into existence. She wondered the world watching and observing the other lives that had been brought into being by others who had sprung from the nothing, and after a while she decided to create her own race. She called this race the witches, and along with the general species she created the six original clans. Countless years passed giving the witches plenty of time to develop and shape their society. New clans emerged from the six. Some of these new clans stayed while others quickly died off. However, during this time the six original clans remained pretty much in the same manner they had been when they were first created. It was during this time that Sindri came into the world. His birth was quite a scandal. He was born into one of the Original six--The Morgan Clan. His father was head of the clan, and his mother was his father's sister.

It was not this that made Sindri's birth a scandal. Incest was not a concept that witches frowned upon at this time. In fact, it was highly accepted and many witches encouraged incest as a way to keep the bloodline pure. No, what made it a scandal was how Sindri's father kept his mother. She was kept as a slave instead as a witch, and to make matters worse he was an extremely cruel master to her.His father's cruelty towards his mother shaped her into the person that Sindri would know. At first, his father kept Sindri away from his mother. He did not want his son to be influenced by her, but quickly changed his mind when Sindri showed no real talent for magic. He had no use for a worthless child, and therefore it did not matter if Sindri was corrupted by his mother's insanity. Besides, Sindri wasn't his only child. He had plenty of other children that could inherited the head of the clan from him. As a result of this fact, Sindri's father ignored him most of the time.

His mother was a different story. She never ignored him, but how she reacted to him differ day from day. Some days she flung love and affection upon him while others it was nothing but hate. Still, Sindri loved his mother, and enjoyed spending time with her in the room that his father kept her imprisoned within. The years passed, and one day the high priest of the goddess Aine passed away. There were rumors that he had been assassinated by Sindri's father who greatly desired that position for one of his sons. The position as Aine's high priest was consider one of the highest position one could hold. Some even argued that it was the highest. In the end, it was one of his father's sons that Aine ended up picking as her high priest, but it was not one of the sons Sindri's father had pushed forward for the honor. No, much to his father's confusion, it was Sindri that Aine picked. Immediately, Sindri was set to the goddess' temple where he would receive the training he needed in order to become Aine's high priest.

It was here that his powers begun to flourish and grow. It was here that Sindri realized that he wasn't the talentless waste of existence that his father thought he was. It was here that he begun his journey to become the first witch king, and eventually the first witch to ascend into godhood. He had no desire to become king or even god. No, he was content to be Aine's high priest, and would have gladly lived out his days as such. However, things seldom go according to plan and Sindri would end up leaving his position as high priest for the throne of the witches. It was done out of necessity. War with another race came knocking on the witches' door, and would have destroyed them if Sindri hadn't intervened. He did not ascend to the throne in the same manner that all the others who achieved the status as monarch of would. There was no vote. No recognition from the witch society as a whole his right to rule.

He just simply walked into the council chambers and told them that he was their king. At first, those within the council chambers protest against it. Having a king went completely against tradition, but quickly changed their tune after Sindri knocked a few heads in. He was not just king in the human sense of the word. Yes, he would be their supreme ruler, but this was not a position that one inherited like head of a clan. No, it was a position that one earns by ascending to another state of being. No one knew at the time what changes occurs during this ascension. However, it was clear that Sindri had talents he didn't posses as a mere witch. Quickly, he put an end to the war that was threatening to destroy his people. He ruled the witches for over a thousand years, implicating many changes within the society that are still in use today.

It was during this time they realized one of the changes a witch went through when they ascended to monarch. The average thousand years lifespan of the species became longer. He married several other witches, but never named one as his first. Much to the witches' horror it would be a mere human girl that he would give that honor to. Sindri did not care what his people had to say about his relationship with this human. He loved her and she him, and that was all that mattered. They lived in happy bliss for many years until she eventually grew old and died. It was after her death that he decided to step down from the throne giving the leadership of the witches back to the council. It was this action that marked the idea that a king or queen will not keep the throne for eternity. After a thousand years, whoever is currently sitting upon the throne will step down. It was not a tradition that any would force, but it would be one that virtually every witch monarch fellowing Sindri would honor.

He went off into the wilderness alone for many years, and when he returned to society he had once again ascended. He became a god. It quickly became clear that he was god of the sea. The others were amazed. He was a prime example of what the witches could become. They admired him, and wanted to know how he achieved godhood. Sindri was more than happy to share the secrets with them. He did not think that it was something he could keep for himself. It proved to be a difficult concept for many, but a few managed to ascend. And chaos erupted. While Sindri had no problem in telling someone how it was done he still believed that one had to do it with their own two hands, but not everyone who ascended after him believed this. They begun to help those they wished to ascend do so by other means. Another war broke out that threaten to destroy the witches, but it was not just the witches this war threaten to destroy, but the entire universe as well.

It was clear that something had to be done, and it was. Many of the witches who ascended into godhood were killed, and a new rule was set into place that would help prevent this from happening again. This rule was that a candidate for godhood will need permission before ascending. It will be a rule that will be followed until modern day. Countless years passed, King and queens went. Some of these monarchs would ascend to gods or goddesses while others will simply just grow old and die. Sindri helped his people anyway he could over the years until five hundred years before modern times. It was during this time that the greatest witch queen by the name of Astrea would be born. She would be the only monarch to almost get rid of the separate, but together government system of the witches.

She was born during the dark ages during the time when the witches as a whole embraced the darkness. It was during a time when the test a witch needed to pass before they are considered a functioning member of society were a literal life and death struggle. How much of a life and death struggle one of these tests were depended on how much the witch taking it was desired to passed. Astrea was not desired to pass at all, and was given the most difficult test. However, in spite the others desires she would pass. It was during this test that she would meet Sindri, and he saw the potential within her.It was here that she decided that she would become queen and destroy the corruption that was slowly destroying the witches from the inside out. Her first action after passing the test was to kill every head of the high council--including her own father--within the council chambers. It was not an action that went over well with the other witches, but slowly she brought them over to her way of thinking until the separate, but together ways was starting to look like an idea of the past.

It was also during this time that the witches begun to reconnect to the old religion by rediscovering Aine the one who had created them.Sindri encouraged them to abandon the gods and goddess they currently worshiped in exchange for Aine. Yes, he believed that the deities such as him and the others who had became gods or goddess since his own ascension should be admired, but he did not believe they should be worshiped in the same manner as Aine. She was their creator and as such should be regarded with the highest praise while he and the others should be looked towards as prime examples of what one can achieve. He believed that with Astrea's help that this will happen.

Their relationship was more than just allies towards a cause. The two of them feel in love, and Astrea eventually became pregnant with his child. It was just weeks before she was to give birth that tragedy struck. Astrea was assassinated. Sindri found both her and their unborn child in a pool of blood. He was both grief stricken and enraged. He told all the witches that they were idiots, who should hope that Astrea is reborn and sees it within herself to save them, because they had doomed themselves by killing her. He told them that he wanted nothing more to do with them before removing himself as an active member of witch society.

Present

Over the last five centuries, Sindri has become quite the recluse, and has for the most part kept his hands out of the affairs of witches. When he does interfere it is not in the open ways he had before he decided to retreat from society. He help his people behind closed doors by aiding and mentoring those select few witches he consider worthy, and doing his duty as patron god for the Devry clan. Very recently, at least in the scheme of an immortal life, Sindri adopted a daughter. She was a human girl--the wife of the head of the Giese Clan. She had contracted the wasting sickness, and would have died if Sindri hadn't intervene. He did so by reverting her back to a baby, but even then it was not certain if she would survive. He stayed beside her crib every night watching as she fought her own battle with death. Slowly, she became stronger, and he became comfortable with allowing her to leave his line of sight for extended periods at a time.

This did not mean that he would allow her to leave the estate. He believed that until the disease was completely gone from her body that it would be best for her to remain on his property. He believed going to the outside world could reactive the disease and bring it back to her full force. This was not an order she always followed, and sneaked out many times. Eventually, his daughter encountered Kyrell and their relationship begun again. The two of them worked out their issues, and while Sindri knows they still have their issues he cannot help believing that his daughter have found the place where she can truly be happy. This is something that every parent want for their child. Through, this was not the only joyous news. The biggest one was the return of Astrea. Kyrell had brought her back, and Sindri and she had picked up where they left off. They even have a beautiful son together.
